Fatal Car Accidents in Wisconsin

Madison, WI – Driver Killed in Packers Ave Crash near Manley St

Fatal auto accidents in Wisconsin are the cause of hundreds of deaths each year. The unfortunate truth is that there are many instances where innocent people lose their lives as a result of drivers who fail to control their vehicles in a responsible manner. We see many fatal car crashes take place as a result of drivers who are speeding, under the influence, and distracted. When proceeding through intersections, it is imperative that drivers provide the right-of-way to those who have it. When drivers do not yield to others at intersections, it can have devastating consequences.

In Wisconsin, families have the ability to pursue legal claims against those who are responsible after losing loved ones and fatal collisions. As per Wisconsin Statute §893.54, individuals in the state of Wisconsin have a three-year window to initiate a wrongful death lawsuit in most cases.

However, there is a significant exception to this timeframe. If the cause of death results from a motor vehicle accident, the window to file a wrongful death claim is reduced to two years. For this reason, it is vital that you seek legal representation from a Madison wrongful death lawyer as soon as possible. Your attorney will be able to initiate legal action against the responsible party quickly to ensure you are able to protect your rights and get justice.
