Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Wisconsin

Sand Lake, WI – Snowmobile Trail 31 near Sissabagama Rd Crash Takes Pedestrian’s Life

Year after year, countless people continue to die as a result of these preventable accidents here in Wisconsin. Unfortunately, there are far too many instances where pedestrians lose their lives as a result of these accidents.

There are several factors that contribute to these accidents frequently in our state. Some of the most common causes of these accidents include:

  • Speeding Drivers: When drivers operate their vehicles at too high of a speed, they have less time to react if pedestrians travel in front of them to cross the road. As a result, they are likely to strike pedestrians in the area.
  • Distracted Drivers: driving while distracted can include engaging in activities like talking on the phone, texting while behind the wheel, or even talking to a passenger. If a driver is not paying attention to the road, they might not see a pedestrian until it’s too late.
  • Drivers Who Fail to Yield: Pedestrians have the right of way in many situations, but all too often, drivers fail to stop or yield as they pass through busy intersections or crosswalks across our state.
