Sheboygan, WI (July 7, 2023) – Around 8 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, July 4, a pedestrian male was killed in a fatal accident in Sheboygan.
According to Sheboygan County officials, the accident happened at 2800 Enterprise Drive. Police confirmed that a pedestrian male was walking correctly against traffic on the shoulder of the road when he was suddenly struck behind by the driver of a minivan. The man was thrown off the side of the road and into a ditch due to the force of the collision.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, identified as 74-year-old Jan Richmond, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.
Police confirmed that the driver of the minivan, identified as a 37-year-old man from Sheboygan, was apprehended by police for their role in the accident. There are pending charges at this time.
The roadway was blocked in the area for some time after the accident.
