Waterville, WI – Jessica Bignell Killed in Fatal UTV Accident on County Rd Z

Waterville, WI (June 20, 2023) – A woman was killed in a fatal UTV accident that took place on a roadway in Waterville on the night of Sunday, June 18.

According to Pepin County officials, the accident happened around 9 p.m. on County Road Z near the area of County Road G. Police confirmed that a convoy of UTVs was traveling east on Road Z when one ran into a pile of gravel, causing it to overturn. The occupants inside the rolled UTV were ejected onto the roadway. And the UTV sustained damages.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The occupants inside the rolled UTV were identified as 47-year-old Richard Bignell Jr., 45-year-old Jessica Bignell, and 54-year-old Bradley Holz. Jessica was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. Richard was hospitalized by medical helicopter, and Holz was rushed to a local hospital by ambulance. They are both in critical condition.

The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time after the collision. It is believed that the accident happened on a part of the road that was closed.

No further details have been released, but the investigation into the accident continues.
