Milwaukee, WI (June 28, 2023) – Around 1:00 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, June 28, two women were killed in a fatal accident following a chase in Milwaukee.

According to Milwaukee Police, the accident happened in the early morning hours at the intersection of Greenfield Avenue and 19th Street. Police confirmed that officers initially attempted to stop a driver traveling in the area for reckless driving. When officers tried to stop the driver, the driver pulled off at high speeds, and a chase ensued. The driver then lost control of their vehicle, crashing it into a vacant building on West Hopkins Street. The driver of the car then fled the scene on foot before police arrived.

Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Two people who were left behind in the vehicle were tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. The victims were identified as a 20-year-old woman and a 28-year-old woman. No other injuries were reported in the crash.

The roadway was blocked at the intersection for some time after the collision. This led to delays in the area. Police did not say if they charged the driver responsible for the accident as of yet.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.

We want to offer our warmest condolences to the family and friends of the victims who have lost their lives in this accident.
