Janesville, WI (June 23, 2023) – On Thursday morning, June 22, a man was killed in a fatal motorcycle accident that took place in Janesville involving one other vehicle.

According to Rock County officials, the accident happened around 4:30 a.m. on West Highway 11 near the area of North Pahl Road. Police confirmed that a 2017 Kia SUV was traveling east in the area when the driver suddenly veered into the other lane of traffic due to reasons that are not yet known. This caused the driver to strike a motorcycle, leading to extensive damage.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders in Janesville were dispatched to the scene to assist those in need. The motorcyclist, identified as a 53-year-old man, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. The driver of the SUV, who has been identified as a 47-year-old, was injured and taken to Mercy Hospital but was quickly released.

Police confirmed that the driver who went into the other lane of traffic was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He has since been booked on charges of homicide by vehicle, OWI, and more.

The roadway was blocked for several hours after the collision. Police fully cleared the scene by 8:30 a.m.
