Fond Du Lac, WI (June 24, 2023) – A child sustained serious injuries in a pedestrian crash that took place in Fond Du Lac on the evening of Friday, June 23.

According to Fond Du Lac Police, the accident happened around 6:21 p.m. at 500 East Pioneer Road. Police confirmed that a child was trying to cross the street in the area when they were suddenly struck by a westbound vehicle being operated by a 53-year-old resident of Fond Du Lac. The driver remained at the scene of the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The child pedestrian, who has since been identified as a 7-year-old, sustained life-threatening injury in the accident. They were rushed to the hospital by medical helicopter, though their current condition is not yet known.

A large portion of the roadway was blocked off following the collision. This led to delays in the area for some time.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
