Wisconsin Rapids, WI (May 16, 2023) – Around 11:21 a.m. on the morning of Monday, May 15, a head-on collision took place in Wisconsin Rapids that injured two people.

According to Wood County officials, the accident happened at 6100 County Road Z. Police confirmed that a vehicle was headed northbound when it suddenly crossed into the other lane of traffic going around a curve in the road. This caused it to enter the path of a southbound vehicle, causing them to collide head-on with one another.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Both of the involved drivers were injured in the accident. One of them was transported to the hospital by medical helicopter, and the other was taken by ground ambulance. One of the victims, identified as a 64-year-old woman from Wisconsin Rapids, was listed in critical condition. The other party, identified as an 80-year-old man from Wisconsin Rapids, has since been listed in serious condition.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for a period of time. This led to delays until the scene was cleared.

No further details have been released, but the investigation continues.

We would like to offer our warmest sympathies to the parties injured in this accident with hopes of a full recovery.
