Mt Pleasant, WI – Man Killed in Fatal Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on State Hwy 32

Mount Pleasant, WI (May 27, 2023) – A man was killed in a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident that took place in Mount Pleasant on Friday night, May 26.

According to Mount Pleasant Police Department officials, the accident happened around 10:08 p.m. at 3300 State Highway 32. Police confirmed that a man was on the roadway when multiple vehicles attempted to swerve around him. A southbound dark gray Honda Accord then struck the pedestrian and fled the scene of the crash. The vehicle is expected to have extensive damage to its front end.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, identified as a 49-year-old man from Racine, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for some time as police worked to clear the scene. Police did not say if they located the driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
