Madison, WI (May 19, 2023) – A deputy was injured in a DUI accident that took place on a roadway in Madison on the morning of Thursday, May 18.
According to Dane County Sheriff’s Office deputies, the accident happened at an unknown time on County Highway N around the area of I-90. Police confirmed that a man from Illinois was exiting off of I-90 and did not stop at the roundabout in the area, striking a police cruiser on its passenger’s side. The driver of the other vehicle, identified as a 55-year-old man, fled the scene following the accident but was soon picked up by another deputy.

The suspect in the vehicle that fled the scene was since arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, hit-and-run, and resisting police.
The roadway was blocked in one or more lanes of traffic as police worked to clear the scene and any debris left behind.
No further details have been released at this time. The investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the parties who have been hurt in this accident. We hope that they receive a full recovery.
