Fennimore, WI (May 25, 2023) – On Tuesday afternoon, May 23, several people sustained injuries in a semi-truck accident in Fennimore.

According to Grant County officials, the accident happened around 1 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 18 and Annaton Road. Police confirmed that a 65-year-old dump truck driver was making a left turn at the intersection when a 33-year-old woman from Dodgeville in a Ford Fusion started to slow down. A 67-year-old man behind the woman inside a semi-truck was not paying attention and struck the back of the Ford Fusion as a result.

The semi-truck pushed the Fusion into the side of the dump truck. The semi-truck driver then attempted to swerve but instead slammed into the passenger’s side of the dump truck. A 44-year-old woman in an unidentified vehicle then crashed into the dump truck, leading to extensive damages.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The 33-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. All of the other drivers were also injured, but none of them were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Emergency crews closed down the intersection for approximately two hours until the scene was cleared. Most of the vehicles had to be towed away from the scene.

Police confirmed that the driver of the semi-truck was cited for inattentive driving.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues. Police will update with more information as it is available.

We offer our warmest thoughts and sympathies to the parties injured as a result of this accident.
