Cudahy, WI – Teen Killed in Fatal DUI Accident in SB Lanes of I-794

Cudahy, WI (May 21, 2023) – A teen lost her life in a fatal DUI accident that took place on a highway in Cudahy in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 21.

According to Milwaukee County officials, the accident happened around 2 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-794 around the area of Pennsylvania Avenue. Police confirmed that a 17-year-old female driver was speeding over 110 in the area when she lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle, a Chevy sedan, rolled over and crashed down an embankment.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the vehicle was found performing CPR on a 14-year-old girl when they arrived. The 14-year-old was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. Two other individuals inside the vehicle were taken to the hospital with minor injuries but are expected to be okay.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested on charges of OWI and driving while under the influence of drugs. Other charges are pending at this time.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues. Police will update with new information as it becomes available.
