Clear Lake, WI – Two Killed in Fatal Collision at Hwy 25 & County Rd A Intersection

Clear Lake, WI (May 30, 2023) – Two people were killed in a fatal car accident that took place at an intersection in Clear Lake on the evening of Monday, May 29.

According to Barron County deputies, the accident happened at 5:52 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 25 and County Road A. Police confirmed that a van with ten people inside was traveling north on Highway 25 when it was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle carrying four teenagers that was headed west in the area. The involved vehicles were extensively damaged as a result of the collision.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene. A 54-year-old man inside the van and a 13-year-old boy inside the passenger vehicle were tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. The driver of the van, identified as a 54-year-old man, was seriously injured. Two 17-year-old boys from the passenger vehicle were also seriously injured. The three victims were flown to local hospitals by medical helicopter and remain in critical condition. The rest of the passengers between both vehicles were also hospitalized with injuries ranging from minor to severe.

Due to the severity of the collision, the roadway was blocked at the intersection for four hours.

No further details have been released at this time. Barron County officials continue their investigation into the accident.
